Keeping rust from eating away at your beloved vehicle is easier than it initially seems. We have an entirely dedicated on-site WaxOyl facility here at Bodyshop47, ran by a specialist team who are able to provide your vehicle with a thorough and high quality rustproofing service.
Since 1988 we have been cleaning, refurbishing and protecting vehicles which are vulnerable to corrosion. Land Rovers, Jeeps, 4X4s, vans, pickups, motorhomes and most classic cars can all be treated and we are happy to inspect, clean, repair, treat and apply Waxoyl rust prevention treatments to any vehicle that might be susceptible to corrosion. Protection of your vehicle is very important to ensure its longevity and avoid expensive repairs later in life or even its subsequent scrappage.
In the UK the use of road-salt in winter is particularly harsh so we recommend treating and preserving your vehicle every five years but owners of vehicles located near the coast or, even worse, vehicles that have been driven in the sea are particularly vulnerable and we would highly recommend carrying out rust prevention inspection and treatment more often.
Once the initial treatment has been applied we are more than happy to carry out annual inspections and touch up or re-apply the rust prevention treatments as necessary.
FREE Health Check
Every vehicle that is booked in for a Waxoyl rustproofing treatment will get a free health check to confirm that all is well with your vehicle. This will give reassurance to you that all safety issues are in order and components like tyres and the exhaust are fit to last through to the next time you book your vehicle in for service. If there are any concerns about work that may be required our service team will be happy to advise the best course of action.
One Stop Shop
We are the ONLY company in the UK that can offer a complete care, protection and maintenance service encompassing tyre and exhaust replacement, routine servicing and in-house body repair centre. Ultimately if your vehicle is dear to your heart and long term ownership is the plan then we also have a galvanised chassis replacement service and body refurbishment centre.
WaxOyl Treatment Application
Our treatments are heated to the optimum application temperature and injection sprayed into the chassis, bulkhead and other cavities in your vehicle. You can specify whether you want the running-gear, axles and suspension treating or not along with the optional door frame treatment. We can also remove door cards and apply rustproofing to the door frames to help discourage long term corrosion issues.
What is WaxOyl?
WaxOyl is a self-healing rust preventative fluid. It is used to slow down the formation of rust by excluding water and air from bare metal, as well as slowing any existing surface rust using phosphoric acid oxidation inhabitors.
WaxOyl is a petroleum based product made up of wax particles suspended in white spirit (which evaporates after application) leaving a protective, semi cured coating.
What does it do?
RustProofing prevents corrosion and prolongs the effective life of your vehicle chassis, structure and exposed components, and in return extends the life of the vehicle adding value. WaxOyl forms a gel-like protective barrier but never sets fully hard. This means it has the ability to self heal to a certain extent.
How often does my vehicle need a WaxOyl treatment?
Once you have had your vehicle in for a WaxOyl treatment, it is good for 3-5 years. However it should be inspected at least every 2 years, preferably annually and then touched up if necessary.
When is the best time of the year to bring my vehicle in?
We recommend to come in for a WaxOyl in the summer. This is due to the quicker drying time and your vehicle will then be protected ready for the autumn and winter months.
Does my vehicle need to be a certain age for a WaxOyl?
No not at all, we will WaxOyl vehicles of any age and type. We actually recommend getting a Wax Oyl on a vehicle when it is new to get maximum protection.
Is the product diluted before spraying?
No it isn’t. You must be thinking how do we turn such a thick protective fluid into a sprayable form? We warm the product up so that it aids spraying but doesn’t lose its concentration, so it is as effective as possible.
